Journey

This album contains six original compositions by pianist Boby Limijaya in collaboration with the Budapest Jazz Orchestra. Boby's encounter with the foreign group in Budapest, Hungary, resulted in a decision to work together in making the "jazzchestra" pieces seldom listened, or perhaps the first of its kind in Indonesia. The 1980, Tangerang-born musician had previously toured in several countries before choosing the Budapest's orchestra to help him make an orchestra album in his country.

He subsequently formed 8 Horns Jazz Band, consisting of brass players from the Budapest Jazz Orchestra, involving  2 trumpets, alto saxophone, 2 trombones, flute and clarinet. This formation led to an introduction of a new kind of brass instruments in a recording that took place in 2012. While the recording was done in Hungary, the post production, such as editing, mixing and mastering got completed in Indonesia.

Boby found inspiration of his pieces in this album from his late-start, tough journey of music learning, the influence of 50's jazz era, his experience of being a music lecturer, and his preferred music album of Pat Metheny and Brad Mehldau.
