Parkdrive

When three Indonesian students at Berkelee College of Music, Boston, founded a pop jazz band Parkdrive in the US, they had little imagination that their underrated project would receive a huge welcome in Indonesia. The first album sold thousand of copies in the first three months since its release in August 2005. The hit single Sekedar Cerita became a radio hit and aired frequently on MTV. The Surabaya-born vocalist Mikuni Gani, drummer Rayendra Sunito and trumpeter Juno Adhi, the latter both are also music programmers, started it all in 2002.

In the course of time, some noted jazz artists in Indonesia has had brief stints in the band, such as bassist Barry Likumahuwa, former Alexa band member Jmono, former the Groove band member Ali Akbar, and singer Olive Latuputty who replaced Mikuni since 2006. Olive, who has released two solo albums, You in 2005 and Fantasy in 2007, accompanied Parkdrive to reach a new height in their stage performance, the Jakarta International Java Jazz 2008. After three years hiatus, Olive reappeared in 2011 Sunday Jazz Festival in Jakarta, introducing additional members: the keyboardist Ali Akbar, bassist Rishanda, and guitarist Adrian Martadinata.
